The Foundation Class

In the last few years the Education Authority has sought to provide pupils and parents with a greater level of access to Specialist Provision in Mainstream Schools across the region. This will provide greater access to inclusive educational opportunities for pupils with a statement of special educational needs.

As a registered Nurturing School, with an ethos that prioritises inclusion, Leadhill Primary School was excited to establish a purpose built unit providing learning experiences for children with a statement of special educational needs.

After a successful application, meetings quickly began and it was agreed that the Specialist Provision would be located beside P1, with a brand new outside classroom being provided for Pre School and our Wrap Around Care.

The project was also agreed to include a brand new multi purpose space for use by all pupils and new toilet facilities in the front corridor.

We have been excited to finally move into our new rooms, with the children now able to attend our Foundation Class for the full school day. We hope to hold an official grand opening in the next few months and look forward to welcoming lots of visitors.
